showcase sunday 2

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Jordan’s Jewels where you showcase a favorite cover on your bookshelves.

Welcome to Showcase Sunday *passes out cookies* as you might recall *takes a sip of milk* last week’s post featuring Katie Cotugno’s 99 Days as well as… competition of sorts. You see, I never seem to continue with features on any of my blogs and I didn’t know if I would be able to continue after three solid weeks of Showcase Sunday’s posted on time. I’m very proud… and now I’m also very full.

This weeks Showcase Sunday pick is from an author whose work frequents both my to be read shelves and my read shelves. Her writing never ceases to make me smile or cry (sometimes at the same time.) Here is Sarah Dessen’s Saint Anything.

23009402Saint Anything Synopsis

Peyton, Sydney’s charismatic older brother, has always been the star of the family, receiving the lion’s share of their parents’ attention and—lately—concern. When Peyton’s increasingly reckless behavior culminates in an accident, a drunk driving conviction, and a jail sentence, Sydney is cast adrift, searching for her place in the family and the world. When everyone else is so worried about Peyton, is she the only one concerned about the victim of the accident?

Enter the Chathams, a warm, chaotic family who run a pizza parlor, play bluegrass on weekends, and pitch in to care for their mother, who has multiple sclerosis. Here Sydney experiences unquestioning acceptance. And here she meets Mac, gentle, watchful, and protective, who makes Sydney feel seen, really seen, for the first time.

The uber-popular Sarah Dessen explores her signature themes of family, self-discovery, and change in her twelfth novel, sure to delight her legions of fans.

If you haven’t read a Dessen book I encourage you to do so. My personal favorite is This Lullaby. Dexter was my first… book-boyfriend that is. Happy reading and never trust bridges… although that could just be my personal opinion after watching Fantastic Four too many times. Check back next week to see if I’ve changed my mind.

    1. Hey Jess,
Have a cookie! 😉 Saint Anything sounds different from most of Dessen’s stories but I’m interested to see how she pulls it off… I’m also a little scared. It reminds me of her debut novel, which I didn’t particularly care for- but I am glad I kept reading her work because I met Dexter, so I am hopeful. 🙂

      Happy reading,
      Jordan
